The Harvest
Our decision to embrace the practices of biodynamic farming was the inevitable choice following our first meeting with Francois Bouchet, today deceased, who was for us as well as the entire French and European biodynamic community, an extraordinary advisor and consultant. He taught us how to understand and apply this unique approach to cultivating the land which is at the same time both so simple and so complex. Today, together with Francois’ son Matthieu Bouchet, we continue to cultivate our vinyards with the utmost care and attention in accordance with the guidelines and standards of organic and biodynamic viticulture. We are rewarded in our efforts at being listed as one of Italy’s wineries to achieve the Demeter biodynamic certification.
We use no chemical fertilizer, herbicides or pesticides in our winegrowing. All the work with the soil, vines and fruit is done by hand and seeks to stimulate and enhance the vineyard’s biological energy and activity. This in turn activates the inherent elements of the soil to result in fruit full of vitality and rich in nutrients. The intervention of man’s role in the process is kept to a minimum leaving nature to pursue its own proper course and to achieve its correct balance.
